Our Values
We strive to go above and beyond for our clients no matter the challenge. We aim to deliver our very best work every single day across our services.
- We adhere to strict SV (Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde) regulations in Germany for breeding German Shepherd Dogs worldwide and members of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA).
- Our dogs are chosen for their sound temperaments and utilitarian structure, suitable for both work and show.
- They are evaluated with X-Rays and SV A-Stamps/OFA Ratings for hip and elbow health.
- These evaluations determine the dog’s worth in terms of temperament and physical ability.
- Titles like BH and Schutzhund/IPO demonstrate a dog’s confidence and working abilities.
- Our breeding dogs have passed SV breed surveys. Breed surveys are a key tool for assessing a dog’s suitability for breeding.
- Criteria include A-Stamps, OFA, show ratings, dentition, BH, IGP1 and Higher, and AD.
- Dogs must also pass a courage test and be neutral to loud noises and surroundings.
- Following SV criteria is crucial for responsible German Shepherd breeding.
- We meet and exceed all SV criteria for breeding these dogs, ensuring high-quality results.
Our Breeding Philosophy: Longevity, Utility & Thoughtful Outcrossing
At Von Nummer-Eins, our goal has always been to breed German Shepherds that endure – in body, in temperament, and in purpose. True beauty in the breed lies not in exaggeration, but in utility: the ability to move efficiently, think clearly, and serve faithfully.
Â
That principle guides every pairing we make. By occasionally introducing carefully selected working-line genetics into our established show-line foundation, we widen the gene pool while preserving structure, soundness, and composure. Each outcross is intentional – aimed at strengthening vitality without compromising type.
Â
This philosophy has been proven across generations of females in our program. From Vesper von Nummer-Eins, who lived beyond 14 years and produced two VA litter sisters (Vesper and Vesta), both known internationally for their protection work and influence – to Tigra and Nala, who carried those same traits of health, stability, and grace into their senior years. Today, Nala and her sister Nevada remain active and healthy at nearly 12 years old, with strong hips, steady nerves, and excellent digestive health: hallmarks of true longevity.
Â
From this line came Fida von Nummer-Eins, sired by Lupin Dell’Altopiano, whose impeccable character and balance shaped the next generation. Fida’s daughter, young Valerie, now represents the evolution of this philosophy: physically robust, mentally resilient, and capable of true work. And Tabasco, through Jade and Ucon von Patiala, who as a 4rd generation Nummer-Eins, has produced excellent children both with Kayos and Lupin who are not only excellent companions but also biddable working dogs.
Â
Our approach to breeding is simple: preserve what time has proven, and refine what experience teaches. By combining genetics known for strength and stability with modern understanding of behavior and structure, we aim to produce German Shepherds that are as trustworthy in the home as they are capable in the field.
Â
Every Von Nummer-Eins dog is bred with purpose: to protect, to think, and to endure.
